International Cricket Council

This page is aimed at assisting those of you who are keen either to host touring sides, or to organise tours to parts of Europe which you haven't visited before. The nine Associate countries, fourteen Affiliate countries and approximately 15 new territories we are currently working with should provide some exciting opportunities, so if you would like to flag up your interest, please send an outline of what you can offer or what you are looking for in terms of facilities, opposition etc (no more than 150 words, please!) plus any relevant photos you may have to , along with contact details for further information. Unfortunately we will not be able to assist financially or administratively beyond this point, but hope this facility will encourage links amongst the European cricketing fraternity.

Please note that users of this facility are encouraged to make their own checks to ensure that the facilities and opposition on offer are of an appropriate standard, as the ECC is unable to guarantee this.

Duesseldorf  -  Cricket by the Rhine

DSC 99's cricketers (Duesseldorfer Sport-Club 1899) are keen to welcome touring sides for weekend games at our home in one of Germany's liveliest cities. We play local league and social cricket in pleasant tree-lined surroundings and enjoy excellent club facilities, including first class (ClubTurf) artificial match and practice pitches, indoor gym, bar and restaurant. We play regular host to visiting teams from Holland and Belgium (40 minutes' drive to respective borders) and from the UK (3 1/2 hours' drive from Calais, numerous budget airlines flying to Duesseldorf and neighbouring airports). Previous visitors (including the MCC) will testify to Duesseldorf's reputation for offering a wealth of post-match entertainment in the "Altstadt", a maze of bars and restaurants next to the River Rhine.      For more information, please contact Richard Stock at rcc.stock@t-online.de.

Welcome To Tallinn, Medieval Capital of Estonia

The Estonian Cricket Association is delighted to welcome touring teams to our stunning and captivating capital city of Tallinn. A jovial bunch of cricketers from over 4 nations (British, Russian, Australian and including obviously our strong Estonian contingent),  we are used to the desires of touring teams, namely entertaining cricket and great socialising.

By playing us you will be playing our Estonian National representative team, and we have teams to meet all standards of cricket ... well almost all standards! With a choice of two grounds, one in the stunning setting of a 300 year old manor house, the other surrounded by a horse trotting track 5 minutes from the centre, we can offer the right setting to your tastes.

We have hosted 12 touring teams this year, and we will be delighted to put you in touch with these teams so that you can ask of them about our hospitality. This year we hosted the infamous Heartaches cricket team, captained by Sir Tim Rice, and with our playing season being from late April to late September, we believe that we are a delightful touring opportunity. We even are organising our first ever Ice Cricket tournament in January 2005!

We can even arrange a game in Finland for you, with a 60 minute boat ride across to Helsinki - two internationals in one weekend!

We offer options of beach cricket (ten minutes from town) on our days of rest, as well as a host of other activities to keep the teams mind away from the game in hand (a successful tactic!)

With direct flights from most parts of Europe, travel and accommodation is easy, and can be arranged for you here to save you money as we have contacts with those who can keep the costs down. The Old Town of Tallinn is a world heritage site and for a good look at the town go to www.tallinn.info. The night life here is lengendary and with everything within walking (staggering) distance!

Looking forward to seeing you all soon! Contact Jason Barry: jason@insidemarketing.ee

Slovenia for an unforgettable cricket trip

Graeme Turton, Secretary, Morton CC: "The lads all got back home safe and well even after enjoying some Trieste and Stansted airport hospitality. Everybody who I have spoken to since has said that Ljubljana was the best Morton Tour yet. Superb hospitality from our hosts, staying in a beautiful city, with stunning countryside in a lovely country.

Where can you play cricket and enjoy the sight of ancient castles, glorious alpine scenery in glorious weather from late March to early October? Ljubljana cricket club would like to show you the answer. We have hosted teams from all around the world including the MCC, The Crusaders from Australia as well as many other British and continental teams. All of them leave with a wonderful impression of Ljubljana and the beautiful country that is Slovenia. We pride ourselves on our hospitality and will make sure your trip is more than just a game or two of cricket. For most visitors to Slovenia it also represents great value too with most important things costing substantially less than in their own countries. It is well connected with cheap Ryan Air flights to nearby airports. Staying in Ljubljana, our picturesque ground is only a short drive away. Why not take a look at what we have to offer and please contact us, should you be tempted by our charms. We would love to have you here and we guarantee you won't be disappointed. For further information please us for a prompt reply. See what others had to say about their trip here.

Like to play in Poland?

Poland now boasts a new club called Polonia Cricket Club, whose members play cricket almost every weekend in the Polish/German border region. Our team is of mixed sex and all but one are Polish. At present we are at an early stage of development but would like to start playing 'real' matches next year. If there are any teams out there who might be interested in playing against us, either here in Poland or at other locations, please contact us.

Simon Haines:

Cricket in Burgundy

Montbard Cricket Club of Burgundy, France, has been in existence for several years and has frequently played host to English and Irish touring teams, mostly of pub or village green level - our position here amidst the vines and all the rest has proved to be quite a draw! We would like to repeat this experience at least once this coming season. Dates that would suit us are at the end of August and most any time in September.

Dijon, the nearest airport, is close by and is served by Buzz who fly cheaply to and from Stansted. We would be happy to make reservations for car rentals, if desired, so that any visiting team could enjoy their stay to the maximum. If a team would prefer to use their own transport, I will happily pass on information as to how to get here - it's very easy. And then there is also the possibility of an almost direct train connection via Eurostar. Naturally, we would also be pleased to book rooms for visitors at a good local hostelry and do anything else to make such a visit a pleasurable one.

150 years on in Deeside
Banchory Cricket Club, based on Royal Deeside in north-east Scotland will be celebrating their 150th anniversary in 2004. We are hoping to celebrate by holding an overseas tour. We are mixture of the good the bad and the plain ungainly playing regular league cricket in the frozen (or soggy) north. We would love to hear from clubs anywhere in Europe who would like to receive a tour from the oldest cricket club on Royal Deeside.
